Young @ Heart

I went to see the Young @ Heart Chorus last night and to be honest i’ve never walked out of a show more moved and elated. It was a beautiful production and felt so naturally developed that I couldn’t see how anyone could have directed or curated it.

My only problem is that i can’t bring myself to review the show, i don’t have the words to express how it made me feel, i just cannot do it justice, i also don’t think its fair to rob people going to the Manchester or Brooklyn shows of the element of surprise. All i’m going to say is if you ever get the chance GO SEE THEM! I promise that you’ll walk out with a completely new perspective on the world.

The next time you hear Bono talking about poverty or hunger or whatever cause is fashionable that week, just remember to take him with a pinch of salt or possibly throw something at the TV. If U2 actually care about this fucked little planet we live on, surely they’d be pumping some of that wonderful money they are surely receiving from Research in Motion (the creators of Blackberry) for sponsoring their American tour (and the “U2 Mobile Album” whatever that is) into Aid or famine relief. 

Now maybe I’m expecting too much from the Dublin boys done good, but I am talking about a band that very conservatively will earn £120 million pounds gross this year from touring alone (that figure is based on a comparable bands fee plus 50% more for merchandise), even with touring costs i really can’t see them clearing less that £70 million profit, couple to that a guesstimate of £100 million for publishing income which by the way they avoid pay full tax on by running it from Holland, I just feel that instead of talking about the shit the world has to face, they could be sliding £100 mill to Ethiopia which would put a lot of food in the mouths of a vast number of people.

About 3 years ago i quit a design job for a very big evil company to do the dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip thing, other than the odd polaroid for the Angles internal artwork I haven’t really got down to creating anything visual in a very long time. When I set up this blog it wasn’t meant to be just about music, I was planning to use it for design and art too but time just seems to get in the way.

Anyway in the last few days i seem to have actually found some time to do something with my eyes not just my ears. Here are a couple of nigh finished bits:

Kid A – Out Now!

First up I’ve gotta break some bad news, it is true last Summer I, dan le sac, cheated on Scroob and went in the studio with someone else, I know it was wrong but I just couldn’t help myself, she was just so talented! To continue this Music as a Marriage metaphor I even had an illegitimate child with Ms Anni T under the name of “Wasnotwas”! Long story short the KID A single “Wasnotwas” is out today on TheLab! You can nab it on SWEET!

But don’t worry this hasn’t spelt the end for dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip, in fact whilst working hard on the next LP we’ve even managed to squeeze out a lovely remix of Bat For Lashes “What’s A Girl To Do” which will feature on her single “Pearl’s Dream” on June 22nd, Pip even laid down a few verses for it!
