Ages ago i wrote and released a diy album. I only made 50 copies and that is all i planned to make but of late i keep getting messages from peeps wanting to hear it, so here it is for y’all to hear. I’ve never been quite happy about the finished thing, every day i learn something new that could’ve made it better but finding the time to improve it is difficult with the dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip schedule. So these streams represent it in its rawest form, genital warts and all.

I might make it available for download again at some point but for now streams will have to do.

PS just listening to this as i type i’ve realized all the vocals are me drunk, i even use the n-bomb. Promise i am not a racist.

Been spinning this out and about for a while but hadn’t got round to posting it til now, loved Drums of Death’s re-work of the Sabbath classic but just couldn’t squeeze it into DJ set until i smashed the fuck out of it with a big Drum n Bass stick! (Gets nasty around 1.38) Enjoy, download and disseminate!

Its so nice to be able to share stuff securely on this here wordpress.com blog, there’s so much music i can’t give away but would like to show the world (without having to direct people to the hell that is myspace!), and you must admit the Soundcloud player is beautiful!

So the next few posts will be stuff I’ve mentioned before but what can i say, i’m proud of this ish!

Its very rare that I trip over anything exciting on the internet, especially with our very awful virgin media broadband but i won’t go into that… anyway, after talking to peeps about the Tired Irie split a band called la la lepus came to my attention, I know very little about them expect that one member is called John, another Paul, and another Miggy, they are signed to Late of the Pier’s Zarcorp imprint and that the one song i have heard is dope. The track on the myspace is called “We’re taking out your family” and is a wonderfully catchy dark slice of electro pop.

Now this bodes we’ll on 2 fronts, firstly that la la lepus have the potential to be decent and secondly that Late of the Pier are applying the ridiculous level of musical intelligence they showed on Fantasy Black Channel to their imprint.

Tired Irie

About a year ago myself and mrs le sac put together a few gigs in Reading, the drab town we live in, a town with one of the biggest music festivals in the world yet very very little in the way in Live music, anyway enough whining, one of the bands we stumbled across for said shows was Tired Irie, sadly its come to pass that they have decided to split. I genuinely thought they were a band that, with time, would go onto great things but this industry doesn’t always work purely on talent, sometimes its just about the numbers.

I went to see the Young @ Heart Chorus last night and to be honest i’ve never walked out of a show more moved and elated. It was a beautiful production and felt so naturally developed that I couldn’t see how anyone could have directed or curated it.

My only problem is that i can’t bring myself to review the show, i don’t have the words to express how it made me feel, i just cannot do it justice, i also don’t think its fair to rob people going to the Manchester or Brooklyn shows of the element of surprise. All i’m going to say is if you ever get the chance GO SEE THEM! I promise that you’ll walk out with a completely new perspective on the world.

The next time you hear Bono talking about poverty or hunger or whatever cause is fashionable that week, just remember to take him with a pinch of salt or possibly throw something at the TV. If U2 actually care about this fucked little planet we live on, surely they’d be pumping some of that wonderful money they are surely receiving from Research in Motion (the creators of Blackberry) for sponsoring their American tour (and the “U2 Mobile Album” whatever that is) into Aid or famine relief. 

Now maybe I’m expecting too much from the Dublin boys done good, but I am talking about a band that very conservatively will earn £120 million pounds gross this year from touring alone (that figure is based on a comparable bands fee plus 50% more for merchandise), even with touring costs i really can’t see them clearing less that £70 million profit, couple to that a guesstimate of £100 million for publishing income which by the way they avoid pay full tax on by running it from Holland, I just feel that instead of talking about the shit the world has to face, they could be sliding £100 mill to Ethiopia which would put a lot of food in the mouths of a vast number of people.

About 3 years ago i quit a design job for a very big evil company to do the dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip thing, other than the odd polaroid for the Angles internal artwork I haven’t really got down to creating anything visual in a very long time. When I set up this blog it wasn’t meant to be just about music, I was planning to use it for design and art too but time just seems to get in the way.

Anyway in the last few days i seem to have actually found some time to do something with my eyes not just my ears. Here are a couple of nigh finished bits:

First up I’ve gotta break some bad news, it is true last Summer I, dan le sac, cheated on Scroob and went in the studio with someone else, I know it was wrong but I just couldn’t help myself, she was just so talented! To continue this Music as a Marriage metaphor I even had an illegitimate child with Ms Anni T under the name of “Wasnotwas”! Long story short the KID A single “Wasnotwas” is out today on TheLab! You can nab it on SWEET!

But don’t worry this hasn’t spelt the end for dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip, in fact whilst working hard on the next LP we’ve even managed to squeeze out a lovely remix of Bat For Lashes “What’s A Girl To Do” which will feature on her single “Pearl’s Dream” on June 22nd, Pip even laid down a few verses for it!
